Wakayama Prefecture is located in the Kinki region of Japan. The prefectural capital is Wakayama City. Located on the southwest side of the Kii Peninsula, Japan’s largest peninsula, facing the Seto Inland Sea to the west, the southern part of the prefecture has large-scale mountains.
