Castle Guided Tour + Historical Costume Immersion
Duration: 2–3 hours
Step inside the legacy of the Kishu Tokugawa clan at Wakayama Castle.
This experience is more than a costume photo opportunity. After an in-depth guided walk through the castle grounds, you will choose from authentic historical attire — samurai armor, princess kimono, feudal lord garments, or ninja outfit — and learn the meaning behind each role.
Who were they?
What responsibilities did they carry?
What did their clothing symbolize?
As you dress, you don’t just wear history — you step into it.
Professional photo support is included to capture your transformation.
Private Guide Fee (per group, up to 4 guests): ¥48,000
Costume Rental (per person): ¥1,000 – ¥9,000
Advance reservation required: At least 7 days prior
2. Wakayama Castle Dining as a Daimyo
Castle Tour + Recreated Lord’s Cuisine in a Traditional Tea Room
Duration: 2.5 hours
After exploring Wakayama Castle with your private guide, you will enter a quiet traditional tea room to experience a recreated meal inspired by dishes once presented to the feudal lord of the Kishu domain.
This is not luxury through extravagance.
It is refinement through seasonality, restraint, and aesthetic balance.
Every element — the plating, the tableware, the pacing — reflects the cultural values of samurai-era leadership.
A rare moment of stillness and dignity, far removed from typical cruise excursions.
Private Guide Fee (per group, only 4-6 guests): Base (up to 4 guests): 65,000 yen
Additional guest: +10,000 yen
Recreated Cuisine Experience (per person): ¥15,000
Advance reservation required: At least 3 days prior

3. Castle Town Cultural Walk & Wagashi Art Experience
Guided Town Walk + Traditional Japanese Sweet Making
Duration: 2.5 hours
Discover the hidden stories surrounding Wakayama Castle as you walk through the castle town area with your private guide.
You will then visit a local confectionery artisan for a hands-on wagashi (traditional Japanese sweet) lesson.
Wagashi are not simply desserts — they are edible expressions of the seasons.
Shape, color, and texture all reflect nature’s subtle transitions.
Create your own seasonal sweet under the guidance of a skilled craftsman.
An intimate cultural encounter blending art, taste, and philosophy.
Private Guide Fee (per group, 2-3 guests): ¥45,000
Wagashi Workshop (per person): ¥2,500
4. Kuroe Heritage Walk & Kuroe Lacquerware Makie Workshop
Historic Town Exploration + Gold Lacquer Craft Experience
Duration: 2.5 hours
Available: Saturdays & Sundays only
Step away from typical tourist paths and into the quiet artisan district of Kuroe — a town shaped by centuries of lacquer craftsmanship.
Your private guide will introduce the history of Kuroe Lacquerware, once an important industry in the Kishu region.
You will then participate in a hands-on makie (gold lacquer decoration) workshop led by a local artisan. Using gold powder and traditional techniques, you will create your own lacquer piece to take home.
This is not a performance for tourists — it is living craft culture.
A rare opportunity to connect with working artisans in an authentic setting.

Cultural Depth Beyond the Usual Cruise Stop (Approx. 5 Hours)
Designed for cruise guests arriving at Hidaka Port, this private experience connects commerce, faith, and legend — revealing a quieter, deeper side of Wakayama.
Fully private. Timed precisely to match your ship’s schedule.
Yuasa Historic Walk & Dojoji Temple Legend Experience
Duration: Approx. 5 hours
Begin in Yuasa, the birthplace of Japanese soy sauce and a preserved merchant town shaped by maritime trade and fermentation culture.
As you walk through narrow streets lined with traditional wooden townhouses, your private guide will introduce the story of how salt, mold, time, and human ingenuity created one of Japan’s foundational flavors.
Yuasa represents discipline, patience, and commerce.
From there, travel to Dojoji Temple — one of Japan’s most dramatic legendary sites.
Dojoji is not simply a temple.
It is the stage of the famous story of Kiyohime and Anchin — a tale of love, obsession, transformation, and spiritual consequence.
At the temple grounds, you will:
- Explore the historic precincts
- Learn the legend in cultural context
- Discover how the story influenced Noh and Kabuki theater
- Reflect on the deeper themes of desire, faith, and redemption
This experience connects two powerful dimensions of Japanese culture:
Commerce and belief.
Patience and passion.
Fermentation and fire.
A rare opportunity to engage with both living tradition and timeless legend within a single afternoon.
Private Guide Fee (per group, up to 4 guests): ¥90,000
Transportation: Transportation is arranged separately at the guest’s request.
