Wakayama City, the capital of Wakayama Prefecture, is located in the northern part of the prefecture and borders Osaka Prefecture. While there are historical buildings such as Wakayama Castle, the symbol of the city, modern public facilities and restaurants are springing up every day.
Despite being a large city, Wakayama City has a somewhat laid-back atmosphere, and is blessed with scenic coastal areas such as Kada and Wakanoura a short distance away.

Geography
Located in the northern part of Wakayama Prefecture, the Kino River flows through the central area of this city, and the central urban area is formed on the left bank.
The city borders Osaka Prefecture in the north, Iwade City and Kinokawa City in the east, and Kainan City and Kimino Town in the south.
